Looking for fresh inspiration for your story and characters? Join us for our first online Storyworld Design workshop of the year, designed to help storytellers unlock our imagination of life beyond fossil fuels and extractive systems. Part of our new year-round Storyworld Design programme, our online workshops offer practical frameworks that turn climate science, technology and solutions into creative inspiration. We explore what creating relatable near-future worlds and regenerative storytelling can look and feel like, along with the ideas and principles that can get us there.
About this workshop:
Our first workshop of the year is focused on CHARACTERS, and how to elevate your story and characters through integrating regenerative world building frameworks.
Who is this workshop for?
Writers, directors, producers and script editors with a script in progresskeen to integrate regenerative world building into their story and inspire their characters with new ideas.
What does the workshop cover?
In this interactive online session, you’ll work directly on your chosen characters, exploring how they might reflect both the reality of climate challenges we face and the transformations needed to address them.
Through guided exercises, we’ll introduce archetypes of characters living through our changing world as well as patterns of the near future world they could inhabit, inspiring you to deepen your own characters’ motivations, conflicts and journeys.
There will be a mix of presentations as well as guided working and development time. You will be part of a small group, but you’ll be working individually on your own project throughout the session.
A note on IP and your project info:
You will NOT need to share information or IP about your project, that will be kept to yourself.
What you’ll gain:
- New layers of depth and complexity for your existing characters, reflecting different stages of transformation towards a regenerative future.
- Insight into how societies transform, and the roles people (and your characters) can play within those shifts.
- A framework of “Roles in Transformation” archetypes you can use for character development.
- Practical tools you can continue using in your own writing and development practices.
