Climate Spring at London Climate Action Week 2025

As London Climate Action Week has come to a close, read our round-up and reflections on an energising few days of events, conversations and collaborations.

Climate Spring at London Climate Action Week 2025

As London Climate Action Week has come to a close last week, we’re reflecting on an energising few days of events, conversations and collaborations. It was hugely encouraging to see a growing recognition that storytelling isn't simply a communications tool - it is a strategy - one that Climate Spring and our allies in this space have long been advocating for.

We have been amazed by the fast growing demand for our support from leading writers, creatives and commissioners, who all see the excitement in engaging in what is the greatest story of our time. We have the extraordinary privilege to be working at a time when we can still write its ending.

Throughout the week, we were delighted to host and take part in a number of events that explored the intersection of story, culture and climate action:

One of our key moments was our ‘Story as Strategy’ dinner, which we co-hosted in partnership with Fin-Erth and the Wellcome Trust. This gathering brought together voices from business, finance, philanthropy and the creative industries to explore how storytelling can drive systemic change. The evening was a valuable opportunity to build bridges across sectors and imagine new ways of working together.

Our short film There Will Come Soft Rains was screened at the BFI IMAX as part of the British Film Institute's London Climate Action Week programme, followed by a  thought-provoking on-stage conversation with director Elham Ehsas, Climate Change Minister Kerry McCarthy MP, and Neflix’ Toxic Town creators Jack Thorne and Annabel Jones. We are also incredibly proud that the film went on to win Best UK Short Film at the 2025 Raindance Film Festival - a milestone for the fantastic team behind the film, and a testament to the impact of bold, creative storytelling.

We also partnered with TEDxLondon’s Climate Curious podcast for their live ‘Culture Edition’ event, an exciting session that explored the cross-pollinating roles of culture, stories and climate in shaping public imagination. Speakers included David Lan, Love Ssega, Daze Aghaji, Maryam Pasha and Ben Hurst. The session was hosted in partnership with Ladbroke Hall and Absurd Intelligence.

Finally, we co-hosted a panel as part of BAFTA and BAFTA albert’s Green Light Season, in collaboration with Counterpoints Arts. Hosted by Ade Adepitan, this session focused on how to tell the climate refugee story with empathy, integrity and impact. Speakers included Josh Cockcroft (Director of Research and Impact, Climate Spring), BAFTA-nominated director Elham Ehsas (There Will Come Soft Rains), actor and Green Rider co-founder Fehinti Balogun and filmmakers Arwa Aburawa, Leena Habiballa and Alejandro Loayza Grisi.

Thank you to all who joined us across the week, and to our partners and collaborators who continue to push this work forward. We leave this year’s London Climate Action Week energised, inspired and more committed than ever to storytelling as a tool for change.
