This week at COP30 the committee for Entertainment and Culture Climate Action (ECCA), Futerra and Climate Spring have launched a call for the creation of a new government-backed development fund to support Global Majority film and TV creatives to create new climate stories for Global Majority audiences.
ECCA engaged Climate Spring to scope the need and potential design of a global development fund for climate storytelling. Our scoping study was informed by Climate Spring's development fund, and interviews with expert practitioners and insights into how development funding can be deployed globally to change the narrative on the climate crisis. The call makes the case for a devolved, partner led fund, working with the national screen industries and informed by local contexts.
