We're thrilled to announce that There Will Come Soft Rain has been named Best UK Short at Raindance Film Festival 2025.

The Climate Spring-funded short film (and winner of Climate Spring's and Film London's The Hot House Shorts 2023 competition), directed and co-written by BAFTA nominated director Elham Ehsas, follows protagonist Mira, who, haunted by rising sea levels, defies tradition and her Muslim faith to dig up her father’s grave. Leading her on a collision course with the authorities, faith and family, the story also emphasises the power of unity, forgiveness and second chances, both in saving ourselves and our planet.

The project utilised the Green Rider Handshake Agreement, allowing actors and productions to make greener choices on set.

Raindance Jury Statement:

“Elham gave us a story that’s both intimate and vast. A daughter's defiance echoing the planet's cry for survival, as well as keeping her love and memories of her father alive as she seeks to bury him. As extreme climate change forces a nearby river to perhaps flood his grave or cemetery.

With grace and boldness, Elham and his film dares to ask how we honour the past while facing an uncertain future. Love and grief become resistance and her ritual becomes reclamation. A film that reminds us the most powerful stories often whisper and can still shake the ground and honor the skies above.”
